Raising Funds

Raising-Funds is what we like! Last Saturday we held a Halloween Fright Night where we raised £250 for the National Garden Scheme! Our Garden DesignCentre was open to the public from 5pm-7.30pm. Visitors were treated (yes – not tricked!!) to Vampire cocktails, food, live music and a juggling act.

We decorated our 16 Show gardens in scary Halloween scenes. We included oversized ghosts, ghoulish masks, spiders bats and pumpkins with fierce faces! Children joined in the fun with a competition to count how many ghosts they could find in the Show Gardens.
The local WI provided a delicious cake stand and served tea and coffee, which proved to be very popular. The National Garden Scheme raises funds for a number of charities by encouraging people to open their gardens to the public. Charities include Marie Curie, Parkinson’s and the Princes Trust through encouraging the opening of private gardens throughout the UK.

National Garden Scheme

Our Head Designer Mike Hodges came up with the idea to make it a fun occasion for both adults and children and to leave donation buckets around the Centre. Visitors could donate if they so wished. Mike has opened his own garden for the NGG for several years and thought the Show Gardens would be a great backdrop for a different kind of ‘Open Garden’. He was right!
