HAMBROOKS SCOOP APL LANDSCAPE AWARDS AGAIN

Sandown Racecourse was the prestigious setting for the Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) award ceremony on 12th February, where Hambrooks walked away with yet another national award. Bringing the total since 1997 to a staggering 47 awards. No other garden landscape company has come near to this, so there was a euphoric reaction was winning designer Mike Hodges was called to the stage to receive his award.

Mike, who has been designing gardens with Hambrooks for 18 years, won the category for gardens up to £10,000 with an entry entitled ‘Urban Courtyard’. Although a very small garden, Mike managed to devise a stunning design, which made excellent use of the space and included raised beds as well as a ‘wall of glass’ water feature.

Converted from part of a town centre military hospital in Chichester, the area would have originally been outside of the old laundry. Once the building had been converted into dwellings, the small space was left as just compacted rubble, surrounded by a brick wall.

The Hambrook team soon got to work and built a garden set at 45 degrees to the house to give an impression of more space. Black slate tiles, to latch those inside the house, lead from the French doors and around the raised oak sleeper borders. The glass and stainless steel water feature was used to give a central feature which could be seen through and soften the town traffic noise. Mediterranean planting and subtle lighting complete the garden.

Hambrook Landscapes Help Keep Property Values High

With so much talk about interest rates and property prices, Hambrooks are helping home-owners to maximise the value of their property, by investing in their garden.

Established gardens may not appear to have much scope for improvement, but the experienced eye of a Hambrooks designer can often see possibilities that are missed when you look at the same garden every day. Updating the garden with a larger patio or decking area, larger parking areas, lighting, irrigation, or just new shaped flower beds for planting, can enhance the value of your property as well as add to the enjoyment of it.

If you are selling, the money spent on improving the garden, can usually more than be recovered in the selling price, as well as make the property more desirable to potential buyers. The result is that a home that would remain unsold for many months will not only have more kerb appeal, but also give the ‘wow’ factor in the back garden too.

Keeping to simple schemes will broaden the appeal of any garden. You may have a penchant for Japanese Pagodas or Mediterranean Meyhem, but keeping to subtle and tasteful materials, such as natural sandstone or paving in neutral colours will always pay off. Curves and circles are more popular than harsh, straight lines, and most people like gardens that are low maintenance.

Hambrooks are designing and building gardens such as this, almost every day of the week, so if you need help to transform your’s ring Kevin on 01489 779998 to arrange a free site visit.
